Stitching Panoramas from the
Tipton and Dowling Photographs

Both the Tipton landscape photographs (1882) and the Dowling images (2012) presented problems in creating their stitched 360° panoramas, as in both cases not all the images comprising each panorama fully overlapped. This required the use of digital editing (cloning and compositing from other sources) to complete the contiguous wrap-around panoramas featured on the web site. To make the Gettysburg Cyclorama fully functional as a virtual-reality panorama it was necessary to extend the sky area vertically.

The images below depict in red those areas in the Tipton and Dowling panoramas that required fill editing.
