High Water Mark of the Rebellion (William H. Tipton, 1882)

While this image displays but a slight amount of 3D separation, we include it here as it was made while Tipton was shooting his 360° panoramic photographs under the direction of Cyclorama artist Paul Philippoteaux. (Getty Museum)
The plate (non-stereoscopic) view includes a man standing beside a horse and pointing to the sign visible on the right side of the stereocard. Our experiment to compare the two views may be seen here. The plate view has been incorporated into a VR panorama, which may be viewed here.
